Camp Description Mission The Adaptive Sports Center enriches the lives of people with disabilities and other specific needs through exceptional outdoor adventures. Vision Create a world where outdoor adventures are accessible and extraordinary for everyone, and where each individual’s abilities are celebrated and embraced by participants, families, and their communities. Our Approach The Adaptive Sports Center sets the standard of excellence for adaptive adventure and recreation. We prioritize the inclusion of friends and family and advocate for ability and independence, which are integral to our mission. We incorporate therapeutic recreation practices and employ state-of-the-art equipment and facilities. Our highly skilled and dedicated staff is our greatest asset and is essential in delivering a premier experience for our participants. Our outstanding community facilitates access to the incredible mountains, beautiful rivers, and lakes of Gunnison County, Colorado, for our participants. Our outdoor adventures encourage participants to push beyond their perceived limitations, while being guided by our expert and caring staff. We believe successful outdoor adventures have a positive enduring effect on self-efficacy, health, independence, and overall well-being. The great outdoors is the venue where our remarkable activities take place, and we continually strive to be good stewards of the environment.

Program Details In the winter, days are filled with skiing, snowboarding, and snowshoeing. In the summer, they will enjoy paddleboarding, climbing, rafting, hiking, and mountain biking. Whether campers are just learning a new sport or have advanced skills, they will receive expert guidance from highly-trained instructors. In their downtime, they can relax at the lodge, enjoy great meals, explore the historic town of Crested Butte, participate in team building exercises, and art projects. The friendships and memories formed during their time at camp will last long after the last ski run or paddle stroke on the lake. The Adaptive Sports Center helps the campers set and achieve goals, on and off the slopes, leaving them encouraged and energized. Positively challenged and supported. Exhilarated and transformed. CAMP DETAILS WINTER DATES Summer: January 5 - 11, 2025 GROUP SIZE: Up to 12 INSTRUCTION: Adaptive Sports Center instructors GROUP SUPERVISION: One nurse, as well as overnight supervision LOCATION: Mt. Crested Butte, Colorado at the Adaptive Sports Center COST FREE: Thanks to donations and grants, all trip costs are covered including flights, lodging, meals, food, instruction, equipment rentals, and lift tickets. ELIGIBILITY: The only eligibility requirements are being a burn survivor and teenager/high school student (14 to graduate of high school).
