Camp Beyond the Scars

Camp Beyond the Scars

Camp Description A one-of-a-kind supportive space for kids ages 8-17 from June 8th-12th. This week long overnight camp supports campers sharing about their burn injury and their hopes and dreams. With staff and volunteer support, campers get to do what kids do best, make friends and have a blast! Cost: Thanks to our generous donors, we provide this camp free of charge to burn survivors typically treated at UCSD Regional Burn Center. Staff and volunteers: adult burn survivors, health-care professionals, mental-health professionals, firefighters, and caring community members. All undergo a background check and training. Transportation is provided to and from the camp. Activities include: swimming, basketball, volleyball, archery, crafts, dancing, zipline, BMX biking and fun fun fun! We also have a Leaders in Training (LIT) Program for campers that age out of camp but are interested in becoming a counselor- ages 18-20. This program promotes leadership and offers life skills to better transition these campers into counselors.
